And you Thought Red Bull was Bad for your Health

Sometimes video game tie-ins work, other times not so much. I'll admit it. I had an addiction to Mountain Dew's Halo 3 Game Fuel when it was released, and a bit of a relapse when it was rebranded with World of Warcraft characters. But, Game Fuel, unlike Square Enix's latest creepy beverage, didn't appear as though you were sucking the lifeblood out of you're favorite Spartan leader.

Starting on July 13, soft drink maker Suntory will sell Syrupy Slime beverages in Japan. Coming in two flavors Hoimi Cider and Mera Tropical, which translated into English are popular Dragon Quest spells heal and frizz respectively, will be sure to provide Japanese school children with enough sugar to stay up and play their DS's for days at a time.

It's on your iPhone like Donkey Kong

Sure, the ability to add wallpaper to the home screen of your iOS4 is a nice touch, but all of those pesky icons tend to obscure that silly LOLcat picture you're trying to display. Fortunately for us iPhoners, Geeky Gadgets reader Taylor Griffin has created an awesome Donkey Kong background you can still see beneath all those PopCap game icons. It comes presized, so there is no need to mess with dimensions to have Mario perfectly aligned.  You can download the shiny new wallpaper for your shiny new iPhone 4 here.

3DS Steals Show, Hearts of Critics, at E3 2010

The E3 2010 Game Critics Awards have been released and Nintendo's handheld of the future managed to snag two of the most prestigious awards. Taking home both best of show and best hardware, it's clear that the 3DS has captured the interest of the majority of the 31 judging publications. No 3DS titles made the list, but the numerous tech and briefly playable demos on the show floor definitely made a lasting impression. I personally have tried, with no avail, to explain how utterly phenomenal the depth and graphical capabilities of Ninty's newest portable truly are. Unfortunately, gamers will have to wait until demo units make their way into stores prior to the March 2011 launch to see how astonishing glasses-free 3D gaming can be.
